Sister Wives ……. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little…..

As I have documented Tv in this country is becoming a clear visual record of the deterioration of western civilization, but now we’ve hit a new low….

Have you seen the ads for this ‘Sister Wives‘ show? Unbelievable are you freaking kidding me, at first I just assumed that it couldn’t possible be a show about polygamy, so I thought it must be something else and they are using the title as a sort of double entendre in order to raise curiosity about the show.

WRONG

As per usual I’ve been expecting way too much from TLC …. ‘The Learning Channel … how can they call it that. With shows like this, “I didn’t know I was Pregnant”, and “Paralyzed and Pregnant” The Learning Channel has literally become trashier than VH1 (and that is a pretty damn epic thing to be able to say).

The show is about some guy who is married to 3 different women (and has a fiancée). I think the wives are not actually sisters although it would be even better if they were, they just tell people they’re sisters to hide the fact that they’re dirty polygamist …. which is smart since they are now displaying the fact that they are polygamist on national TV. Some people are into polygamy for religious reasons, but it is painfully obvious that this Ed Hardy wearing douche is nothing more than a good old fashion hustler. On one of the commercials it shows him talking to one of the wives and she is like “I can’t help it I have these jealousy issues….” hmmmmmm I wonder why that could be ….. maybe it has something to do with the fact that YOUR HUSBAND IS MARRIED TO TWO OTHER WOMAN AND HAS A GIRLFRIEND…… and if you look through the wives and girlfriends it becomes obvious that he is simply trading in on a new model every few years …..case in point:

Wives

Fiancée

together they have 13 children who suspiciously resemble “the children of the corn” … so riddle me this if you’re properly caring for and emotionally sharing yourself with 3 different wives and 13 children how the hell do you find time to meet and court a girlfriend …. ? Answer you don’t. My personal opinion is that  the new wife who appears much more “uptown” and obviously much younger than the rest of the harem is most likely an actress hired by TLC since apparently the plot line of the show is the surprise of a “new wife” and how everyone deals with it…….

One review explains:

The family is not breaking any laws since only one of the marriages is legal and the rest are “commitment marriages,” and right off the bat there’s a big announcement that will affect the family’s future — you guessed it, a fourth sister wife.

COMMITMENT MARRIAGES …. wtf …. I don’t think you get it ….. when people say they are in a committed relationship they mean they are committed to not seeing (I’m guessing marrying is included in “seeing”) other people. How can you have a COMMITTED marriage with someone who is MARRIED TO TWO OTHER WOMEN AND HAS A GIRLFRIEND …. It’s easy really you have zero self-esteem, and hustlers like Mr. Brown are very skilled at picking you out of the crowd.

As it sank into me, after seeing the commercials several times, that this was in fact a show on polygamy my main thought was isn’t that illegal how the hell can they have a show documenting someone breaking the law. low and behold:

Judgment Day in ‘Sister Wives’ Polygamy Case

TMZ.con
The Utah County Attorney has confirmed … the Lehi Police Department has completed their felony bigamy investigation into Kody Brown and his gigantic family — and the case has been turned over to the Utah County Attorney … who will ultimately decide whether or not to charge the family with a crime..

ooooh looks like taping and broadcasting to the nation your criminal lifestyle was not such a good idea…..

Kody Brown — who has 3 wives, a fiancée and 13 children — claims he was aware of the risk he was taking when he decided to put his family on the TLC reality show … but insists it was a “risk worth taking.”

Translation I wanted a nice payday, I obviously don’t care how my actions impact anyone but myself, publicly displaying that I have 4 wives who are shooting out children for me right and left makes me feel more “manly”, and I think I’m smooth enough to charm my way out of any trouble. This is how hustlers (con men, psychopaths) think further demonstrating his true nature. He doesn’t care at all how the consequences of  all this effect his family or children anymore than he cares what type of impact marring and dating other women has on his wive(s).

Although I find this distasteful, at the end of the day what these people do is their business, and not anything I would get involved in, BUT once you bring it to reality TV it’s everyone’s business. This is what really pisses me off that this guy is attempting to profit from his questionable lifestyle, and he tries to pass it off as “ok” or “normal”. If you want to be a creep thats your business, but don’t come to me, or go on air, trying to pass it off as “ok”. I hope they get convicted primarily since in most places it is illegal for a criminal to profit from their crimes. In this case it would be prefect punishment for this douche, who is using his wife and kids (who he already treats like shit) to make a quick buck, to end up going through all this and getting nothing.

P.S. – shame on anyone who watches this trash you are part of the problem …. people complain about Larry Flint et al. but frankly the stuff they have on TLC now days is much more vulgar than a titty…. or people having sex.

I hear what you’re saying, but you have to admit, there’s this strange fascination with wanting to get inside these women to understand why they’re willing to accept never being first in a marriage. There has to be some major psychological reasoning behind this public image they portray.
    Great article!

“Children of the corn…” LOL, that is funny, and too true. Thanks for your comment in my blog, for some silly reason Akismet dumped it so I didn’t see it until today.

I confess I watch “Sister Wives” out of a mixture of revulsion and outrage, and I don’t feel qualified to rant unless I truly have some grasp of what is going on.

Actually, the show itself is fairly mundane and dull…we get to see Kody drive around a lot in his sex-ay sports car (have yet to see him actually working, and that includes moving his fiancee…unless you count him standing there and watching his old wives lug her furniture and boxes around!)

Most everyone in the Brown “family” has the personality of stale bread or sour milk, take your pick, with the possible exception of one of the teen daughters, Madison, who is spirited and bluntly declared she won’t share her future husband with anyone. Curiously, Madison alone seems to have unnaturally black hair, and a little bit of the goth-look to set her apart from the rest of the cookie-cutter, bland blondes. You go, girl.

Now, I have to check out the rest of your rants…cheers!

My first reaction was disgust. After really watching the show and having a moment to see how the family lives, I realized my initial thoughts were based on an idea of polygamy that was rooted in cults, and other people’s ideas of what the “right” type of family is.

I also wanted to hate the man because I thought he was getting everything and forcing the women to share his love, leaving them with only a fraction of his heart. I still think it’s odd that any women would be willing to share her husbands love and support with multiple women but the fact is, they’re consenting and obviously happy.

Then you wonder about the kids. They’re not consenting but you could say the same for any type of family whether it’s LGBT or straight. The family is happy & healthy and just because the kids are being exposed to a different type of family does not make it wrong.

This show has exposed happy, healthy polygamists to the world and I for one feel like the cult-like organizations that engage in child rape have overshadowed our opinions of what polygamy really is.

I agree with the author of this email. I could not believe that TLC would put such a show on tv. I am disgusted. It makes me sick to watch Kody strutting around like he is the king. He has all the wives and kids do all the work. You are right, we did not see him doing any real work. Nor did the show ever show him going to work. I want to know how he finds time to do anything. I have one husband and he is tired after a long day at work and sometimes just wants to relax. How can Kody give everyone the time and attention that they deserve when he has to share his time with 4 wives and 16 kids. Give me a break. He is not superman. How can he afford to take care of this large family. I biggest issue is that he drives a two door Lexus. No man with this many kids should have nothing less than a cargo van. I hope that TLC does not give Kody a second season of Sister Wives. They are promoting a family that is violating the law. I personally do not care what Kody does with his family, I just dont want to see it on tv.

But Bob (haha, sorry couldn’t resist after that last post), how could anyone turn down a stud muffin like Kody Brown? Enough about his wives (and girlfriends) self esteem, I wonder how Brown has managed develop a self confidence that overshadows all of theirs? This is especially remarkable considering that the man looks like a bad impersonation of Tim McGraw, only 40 lbs heavier and about a fraction of the success.

This blog and all of the comments totally rocks! I actually watched the marathon this weekend on TLC so I got to see the shows consecutively and the end of the season recap. After I wrote my own review I surfed around to read other blogs about the shows and came across this. Wow! Sister Wives definitely left me cold too. Though I couldn’t have worded it better than your blog has.

I’ve never seen the TV show just commercials for it but it seems like a cult to me or like he’s emotionally manipulating people or his “wives”.

You are just an ignorant closed minded person who is hiding behind a computer screen to be completely totally and utterly rude. Get a life. Do everyone a favor and find yourself a hole. Thanks! 🙂

All over the US there are men (and women) who have children by several different partners. These men are rarely consistant parents for their kids & the state aka the taxpayers provide their support. The kids have all these half-siblings they don’t even know & the mothers would probably fist fight in the middle of the street if they had the chance. Watch Maury & Jerry Springer sometime to see prime examples of what I’m talking about, & then think about it. What makes more sense? The promiscious bedhopping of todays society that leads to multiple one parent state supported households with screwed up kids, or this family that lives together peacefully supporting each other without state assistance, raising stable kids who know they’re loved. I couldn’t do it myself, but more power to them if they raise healthy productive kids & I don’t have to pay for them.

Personally, I’ve watched every show because I care about the women and the children. The woman are emotionally drained and Robyn and Kody are deeply in love. I really get the idea that Kody and Robyn wish to be together all the time, but they can’t. The other women know it and they can’t do anything about it. Sad.

Hey, Nessa, Christine Brown received food stamps in 2009 and 2010, according to her bankruptcy case. Meri and Kody filed bankruptcy in 2005. After 15 years of marriage, instead of saving for the kids’ college, they racked up $85,000 in credit card debt and medical bills! After the show aired, both Meri and Janelle lost their jobs. Meri was up front about her lifestyle so she got upset when she lost her job. But Janelle bought a house by herself in 2006 and listed herself as a single woman. She probably let everyone believe she received no help from the father of her 6 children. (Which she probably didn’t.) I bet her employer was flabbergasted when it found out she actually was a “polygamist”! But we did not hear about it on the show. And we don’t know about these kids. For all we know, they are using some actors to stand in for the real kids. HA! Any way, so much for this guy being any different from the other promiscous bed-hopping con artists out there. Based on the lies Kody swore to on his bankruptcy papers in 2005, I am convinced that he is a con artist!
